About this Workshop:
For the last few months, “Quiet Quitting” has been a topic that has been discussed. With the seasons changing and the year rapidly coming to an end it's important to check in with ourselves. With less sunlight, cooler temperatures, increased workload, fiscal years ending, and an uncertain economy in 2023, our stress and anxiety tend to escalate and take their toll on our personal well-being.
During this interactive workshop, we'll be creating a safe space to talk and openly discuss what stress and burnout are, what indicators can look like, how to identify what our stressors are and how to best look after and prioritize "me" with self-care tools to recover from stress and to avoid burnout.
· Definition of burnout
· Identify stressors
· Indicators of stress and burnout
· How to recover from stress or burnout?
Bring your open mind, pen, and paper -- Jane will lead you through some practical strategies to reframe your mindset as you manage stress.
About Jane Channell
Jane Channell, OLY BSc Physical Geography Team Canada Skeleton Athlete Classroom Champions Mentor
Special Olympics Coach www.linkedin.com/in/JaneChannell/ www.SeeJaneSlide.com
Jane was born and raised in North Vancouver, BC. She grew up a multisport athlete playing basketball, soccer, and softball and running on the track team. Moving on through high school, running was her favorite sport leading her to run on the varsity track and field team at Simon Fraser University.
She was a sprinter, the shorter and distance the better. It was when she was training and racing at top speeds that she felt free. This feeling is what saved her and brought her back from devastation when her boyfriend Burnie suddenly passed away in his fourth year at university. Jane learned her life lessons that year that she still lives by today.
Jane graduated in the spring of 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Geography. In that same winter, she moved to Whistler on a whim to fully immerse herself in the sport of skeleton. Jane worked full time and trained full time for two winters where she worked on her sliding skills, making the Canadian National Development Team in her second year. She made the move out to Calgary as she continues to make Canada proud with her conviction and dedication to the sport. Jane moved up the ranks on the Intercontinental Team, all the way up to the World Cup in the second half of her 4th (2014-2015) season. In the 2017/2018 season, she finished 5th overall on the World Cup circuit and competed for Canada in the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang where she had the fastest push times and finished 10th. During the pandemic, Jane also had the opportunity to compete in the Beijing Olympic 2022.
